On January 19, 2015, Joe McFarland, President, The Home Depot Northern Division will receive City of Hope's highest honor — The Spirit of Life Award. President, The Home Depot Northern Division
Joe McFarland is the president of the Northern Division of The Home Depot. He is responsible for leading more than 110,000 associates in over 798 stores throughout 26 Midwest and Northeastern states. He is engaged with the everyday business strategies of operations, human resources, safety, asset protection, new store growth and merchandising for the division.
Prior to his current position for more than 7 years, Joe served as President of the Western Division for over 496 stores throughout 14 Western states. Joe has also served as a regional vice president responsible for the NY Metro Region, the highest-volume region within the Company. In that capacity, Joe directed the operations of 94 stores across northern New Jersey, New York City’s five boroughs, Long Island and Connecticut.
In all, Joe has been with The Home Depot for 21 years, initially as an electrical sales associate in southern California. He has held every store position, including department supervisor; assistant store manager; store manager in Orange County and Los Angeles; district manager in Los Angeles, Hawaii and Atlanta, regional VP in New Jersey Metro and NY Metro.
Before joining The Home Depot, Joe served his country for six years. The former United States Marine is a Gulf War veteran.
Joe is a native of Pennsylvania. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Misty, and children, Mellissa, Mara, Maggie, Joseph and Joshua.
