Did you know?

Ants on a log could help prevent leukemia. Celery and certain other plant-based foods contain a compound called apigenin. Dutch researchers recently showed that apigenin can block the development and survival of two types of leukemia cells. On the down side, apigenin also appeared to interfere with some chemotherapy, so the researchers warned it might hinder treatment for people already diagnosed with the disease. The American Cancer Society has more information on nutrition’s role in cancer prevention.

This free class will teach cancer patients and survivors, as well as their families, how to manage their pain during cancer treatment and recovery. Door prizes and light refreshments will be available. Seating is limited, so reservations are required.
