Did you know?

Latinas tend to find many breast cancers themselves, during self-examinations. Great news, except that half of those women then wait a month or more to talk to their doctors about it. According to researchers, two-thirds of Latinas with breast cancer found the tumors themselves rather than through medical screening, but they then delayed seeing a doctor. A study author attributed the hesitancy to lack of health insurance or other ways to afford medical care. The American Cancer Society has more information on breast cancer, including screening and self-examination.
