Vice President of Human Resources
As vice president of human resources at City of Hope, Jodi Burke focuses on ensuring that human resources support is aligned with the strategic goals of each City of Hope entity: Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope, the National Medical Center and Development and External Affairs. She also assists with the human resources aspects of the creation of City of Hope’s new medical foundation.
In addition, her responsibilities include working with City of Hope’s leaders to build an integrated human resources business partnership model, which directly aligns City of Hope leaders and staff with the institution’s strategies and initiatives, as well as to develop programs that foster a more productive, effective and positive work environment. She works with the Communications Department to build internal and external human resources communications, as well.
Burke has more than 18 years of experience in human resources for several major companies. Before joining City of Hope, she was responsible for all human resource activities and initiatives as vice president of human resources at Dermalogica Inc. She previously held positions of increasing responsibility at Paramount Pictures Corporation, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and American Honda Motor Company Inc.
Burke is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management, Professionals in Human Resources Association and World at Work: The Total Rewards Association. She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Humboldt State University in Arcata, Calif., and is certified in employee relations law.
